South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock has passed a fitness Test and is cleared to take part in the fourth and final Test match against England in Centurion on Friday.

De Kock suffered a freak injury while walking his dog and missed the third Test while South Africa called up Dane Vilas to take up the gloves for the game in Johannesburg.

With de Kock fit for the final Test, Vilas has been cleared to play for the Cape Cobras in South Africa's domestic competition - the Sunfoil Series.

South Africa have also released fast bowler Hardus Viljoen and batsman Rilee Rossouw to take part in the domestic competition ahead of the Test in Centurion.

Rossouw being released from the squad indicates that uncapped opening batsman Stephen Cook is all but ensured of making his Test debut on Friday.

Having made his Test debut in 2014 against Australia, de Kock has played seven Tests for South Africa and has 269 runs with two fifties while accounting for 25 dismissals as a wicket-keeper.

When South Africa face England on 22nd January in Centurion they will aim to register their first Test win against the visitors at the SuperSport Park.
