After the dismissal of opener and star batsman Arun Karthik in the second over, Madurai Panthers consolidated with good knocks from skipper Shijit Chandran and Jagatheesan Kousik. In fact, a 40-run partnership for the second wicket led the Panthers on a path to launch in the latter part of the innings.

With Kanchi Veerans 32-2 in the sixth over, the Panthers were in the game but a longish partnership between skipper Baba Aparajith and wicketkeeper Suresh Lokeshwar killed the chase.
While Aparajith was dismissed six short of his half-century, Lokeshwar notched up his second fifty of the tournament. Rajgopal Sathish closed the match with a few fireworks.
