Rahul breaks into top 10, Dhawan, Pandya make huge stride in ICC Test Rankings
India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul has returned back into top 10 rankings for batsmen following his performance in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.
Rahul scored a brilliant 85 in the only innings, India batted that saw him climb two places to his career best ninth position while his opening partner Dhawan, who notched another century has helped him gain 10 places to 28th position.
Hardik Pandya, who went on to register the second fastest century by an Indian in overseas soil gained 45 places to career best 68th ranking while Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella have moved to 33rd and 61st position respectively.
Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav have climbed one place each in the rankings for bowlers as they are now placed in 19th and 21st respectively.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav and Laskhan Sandakan have moved to 58th and 57th respectively after their five wicket hauls in the game and Ravichandran Ashwin's six wickets saw him retain his third position behind James Anderson and Ravindra Jadeja.
Also, Jadeja's suspension in the Pallekele game has costed him the top spot in all-rounders list with Shakib Al Hasan claiming the pole position.
The 3-0 result also saw India retain the top position in the team rankings and they now have stretch their lead over the second placed South African team by five points. Sri Lanka continue to remain seventh and have lost a rating point following their innings defeat in Pallekele.
