Tour match, Victoria, day two
Rain played spoilsport for West Indies by washing out the entire third session on day two after Jake Hancock hit an unbeaten 80 to push Victoria XI's total to 169 for three before the tour match eventually ended in a draw.
West Indies declared on their overnight score of 303 for eight.
Kemar Roach (1-21) struck early in the day by dismissing Travis Dean (3) in the fourth over. Hancock (80 not out) and Tom Donnell (34) rebuilt the innings with their 73-run partnership for the second wicket.
The pair saw out 22 overs before Donnell was trapped lbw by Devendra Bishoo (2-60) at the stroke of lunch. Victoria were positioned at 86 for two at the end of the first session.
Early in the second session, Hancock completed his fifty, reaching there in 103 balls. Along with Ian Holland (29), Hancock added 46-runs for the third wicket.
Holland tried to attack Bishoo in the 48th over and was stumped by the wicket-keeper. Victoria were reduced to 132 for three.
Hancock and Aaron Ayre (17 not out) put on a 37-run unbeaten stand before the rain came down at the stroke of tea.
Continued downpour delayed the start of the final session and soon the umpires called off the play ending the match in a draw.
The second Test between Australia and New Zealand is scheduled to be played in Melbourne on 26th December.
