Rain played spoilsport in the Pakistan Super League encounter between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in Sharjah will only 16 overs of play possible leading to abandonment of the game.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and opted to field first. With the score reading 28 for naught in 3.4 overs, rain delayed the proceedings for about 45 minutes.

On resumption, Peshawar Zalmi lost Mohammad Hafeez (16), Kamran Akmal (0) and Rilee Rossouw (1) in three successive overs.

With Tamim Iqbal (62 not out) holding one end, Peshawar Zalmi reached 61 for three at the halfway mark. Sohaib Maqsood (30 not out) was dropped in the 11th over bowled by Zulfiqur Babar (0-37).

By the 16th over, Peshawar Zalmi reached 117 for three with Tamim and Maqsood sharing an unbeaten 75-run stand after which rain came and did not allow further play possible.

Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators have shared the points and are currently positioned at first and second position respectively.
