Rain rules at Cardiff for the Pakistan v Bangladesh warm-up match
A warm-up match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Cardiff was called off at 2pm due to rain, denying both teams, a useful time in the middle prior to the ICC World Cup. One thing is for sure a Bangladesh-Pakistan cricket contest is always an eagerly-awaited match and both teams and its supporters will look forward to meeting each other at Lord’s on 5th July, in the last stages of the World Cup.
Pakistan arrived in Cardiff with an increasing pressure of a desperate win against an international side. A tick in the box could have done them a world of good, given their terrible run in 50-over ODI format – with just two wins in the last 20 matches.
Pakistan team has plenty of room to improve in all aspects of the game to emerge as a force in the 10-nation World Cup. A defeat against Afghanistan, on Friday at Bristol has left no one in doubt that Pakistan has its work cut out big time. On present form every match in the round-robin format will feel like a knockout as the modern game has moved on so dramatically since the last 2015 World Cup. The x-factor is not missing altogether in the present squad – which is close to the strongest it could pick - but Sarfraz Ahmed’s side forever id playing a catching-up game.
Micky Arthur and the rest of the management that features Azhar Mahmood, Grant Flower and Mansoor Rana have a challenge to bring out the best of the present Pakistan
