Ranking gains for Maxwell after Sri Lanka series blitz
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has reached a career-best third position in the ICC Twenty20 International batsman rankings after two blistering knocks against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded series.
Maxwell lit up the first game with an unbeaten 145 and scored a brisk 66 in the second game, thus taking home the man of the series trophy.
For his haul of 211 runs in the two games, Maxwell gained 16 places to reach the number three spot in the list which is led by Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli.
Furthermore, Maxwell’s performances have seen him take the number one slot in the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings, replacing Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan.
Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan, who retired from the game after the second ODI, bows out as the 19th ranked batsman.
Among the bowlers, James Faulkner has moved up to the fifth slot and now has a career-best 672 rating points after picking up four wickets against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, England, after their defeat against Pakistan in the one-off T20I, have slipped to the sixth spot while Australia’s wins against Sri Lanka have propelled them to the fifth place in the T20I team rankings.
