Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri has been appointed as team director of the Indian cricket team until the ICC World Cup 2015.

Shastri was temporarily appointed as the team director after India's 3-1 Test series defeat against England. He was assigned tasks by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) to make a fair assessment of the team's performance.

"Ravi Shastri will oversee the activities of the Indian Team as a Director during the West Indies Home Series and the Test Series in Australia," Sanjay Patel, BCCI secretary said in a press statement by the BCCI.

"He will be with the Indian team on a full-time basis during the triangular series in Australia and also for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015."

Current Indian cricket coach Duncan Fletcher, who came under heavy scrutiny after India's dismal performance in England has also been retained in his current position until the World Cup.

Sanjay Bangar and Bharat Arun who were temporarily appointed along with Ravi Shastri for India's One-Day International series against England, have been awarded a permanent position as assistant coaches.

R Sridhar too has been confirmed as a fielding coach for the Indian cricket team.
