Ravichandran Ashwin goes through fitness workout in Mumbai
Ashwin was unable to take part in four of the five One-Day Internationals against South Africa after picking up a side strain in the first game in Kanpur.
The 29-year-old underwent a few drills under the watchful eyes of the Indian physio Patrick Farhart and the physical trainer S Basu.
The workout, which lasted about 30 minutes, included a few throwing exercises and agility drills and Ashwin had a chat with Basu before walking off the field.
Ashwin is now expected to join the Indian squad at Mohali, which is the venue for the opening Test match of the four-game series against South Africa.
On last Tuesday, Ashwin had stated that he is close to full fitness and is keen to perform well in the Test series.
With 31 wickets from the five Test matches in 2015, Ashwin is India’s leading wicket taker in the format in this year.
The four Test matches between India and South Africa will be held between 5th November and 7th December in Mohali, Bangalore, Nagpur and Delhi respectively.
