India have recalled all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the squad for the first three One-Day Internationals against Australia that begins in Chennai on Sunday.
The decision follows after left-arm-spinner Axar Patel suffered an ankle injury during a training session on Friday that will force him to miss the initial part of the series against Australia.
Patel had a productive series in Sri Lanka where he picked six wickets from three games at an economy under four but now will have to remain on the sidelines.
Jadeja, was initially not named in the original squad as the selectors decided to manage his workload along with Ravichandran Ashwin with the duo being the mainstay of Indian attack in the longer format of the game.
The squad already possess Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav as the spinners and now Jadeja's inclusion will only further strengthen their chances against Steven Smith's men.
The two teams will play a total of five ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals between 17th September and 13th October.
