"There was only one way to go for us to give ourselves that little bit of time to see what the pitch is really doing and then cash in at the end. Bancroft showed us how to do it. He didn't play many extravagant shots. He just played the game and there's a lesson to take from that as well.

"Since last year Tom [Taylor] has gone one way and that's up. We're very pleased to have Tom in the team. He's one of those that worked very hard in the winter. You can see that he has matured. It was good to see that performance from him."

"I'm very pleased. They were two different types of games, having to bat first against Northamptonshire to put a total on the board and defend it. Then in this game we're in the field and we're having to chase it down. They've been pleasing performances in the first two games.

"A lot of our batting template is trying to form partnerships. Leicestershire put us under pressure in our opening 10 overs. We needed a big partnership with Bancroft and Richardson. There was a lot said about signing Bancroft, but he has put that to bed with these two performances. He has been the leader of this term with two match-winning performances. I think now we can get on with our season."
