Jaydev Unadkat picked his maiden five-wicket haul including a hat-trick while Ben Stokes slammed 39 runs and backed it up with a three-wicket haul as Rising Pune Supergiant defended 148 successfully against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs in the 44th match of Indian Premier League in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rahul Tripathi (1) had a rare failure as he was run out in the second over and Pune ended the powerplay at 35 for one.

Bipul Sharma (1-39) further dented Pune's hopes when he had Ajinkya Rahane (22) caught in the deep fine leg while Steven Smith (34) was dropped by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0-39) in the 10th over at the end of which Pune were 51 for two.

Stokes (39) injected some momentum to the innings with back to back sixes in the 11th over but Rashid Khan (1-18) got his revenge when he castled the England all-rounder in the 15th over and in the next over, Siddharth Kaul (4-29) accounted for Smith and Daniel Christian (4).

A late flourish from MS Dhoni (31) provided some respite for Pune but Kaul finished the innings brilliantly for Hyderabad with two wickets in the final over and conceding just six runs. Pune managed 148 for eight in their 20 overs.

David Warner (40) and Shikhar Dhawan (19) gave a solid start of 25 runs in the first four overs but Stokes (3-30) produced a brilliant fifth over when he removed the Indian batsman and Kane Williamson (4) in a span of three deliveries.

Both Warner and Yuvraj Singh (47) consolidated the innings with a brief 54-run stand for the third wicket which was ended by Stokes once again dismissing the former.

From there on the pressure piled on Hyderabad and Unadkat (5-30) capped off a fantastic game for Pune picking a hat-trick in the final over without conceding a run, thereby completing a fine five-wicket haul.

The win has taken Pune to the second position in the table with Unadkat bagging the player of the match award.
