Rising Pune Supergiants pick Imran Tahir as replacement for Mitchell Marsh
Rising Pune Supergiants have opted to pick South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir as a replacement for Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League 2017.
Marsh suffered a shoulder injury during the second Test of the ongoing series against India in Bengaluru which needed a rehabilitation period of nine months after undergoing a surgery.
Tahir is the top ranked One-Day International and Twenty20 International bowler but was released by his franchise Delhi Daredevils and to make things worse for the 37-year-old he went unsold during the auction conducted last month.
However, now he will join the likes of Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa in the squad captained by Steven Smith.
Tahir featured in four games for Delhi Daredevils previous season in which he snared five wickets at an economy of 8.62 and later dropped out of contention with the side preferring all-rounders Carlos Brathwaite and Chris Morris.
Rising Pune Supergiants will kick start their 2017 season with a clash against Mumbai Indians on 6th April at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
