Round up of the final day’s play in the SpecSavers County Championship Division 2 matches – Kent v Warwickshire, Leicestershire v Middlesex and Glamorgan v Derbyshire.

 

Kent beat Warwickshire by 73 runs

Warwickshire were 229-1 at the start of play today,with Ian Bell 102* and Dom Sibley 82*.

Kent 197 (Joe Denly 59; Keith Barker 5-32) & 446-8 dec (Sean Dickson 133, Joe Denly 119, Zak Crawley 93; Keith Barker 4-64)

Warwickshire 125 (Jonathan Trott 51*; Harry Podmore 4-26, Matt Henry 4-54) & 445 (Ian Bell 172, Dom Sibley 104, Adam Hose 65; Harry Podmore 4-85) 

Result - Kent won by 73 runs

Despite a big hundred from Ian Bell and 65 from Adam Hose, Warwickshire were unable to chase down Kent's total and they lost by 73 runs.  Harry Podmore 4-85 was again the pick of the Kent bowlers.

 

Middlesex win thriller by 1 wicket against Leicestershire

Middlesex were 82-3 at the start of play today, needing  another 299 runs to beat Leicestershire.

Leicestershire 427 (Colin Ackerman 196*, Neil Dexter 66 ; Tim Murtagh 5-60 ) & 186

Middlesex 233 (Dawid Malan 78*, Paul Stirling 54; Ben Raine 3-53, Zak Chappell 4-65) & 383-9

Middlesex batted superbly today, as a team, to chase down the required runs against Leicestershire and win by 1 wicket

Stevie Eskinazi 97, Hilton Cartwright 80 and James Harris 58* were the mainstays of the Middlesex innings and Gavin Griffiths was the pick of the Leicestershire bowlers. A nail biting finish and a great game of cricket.

 

 

Glamorgan draw with Derbyshire

Glamorgan were 201-3 at the start of play today, leading Derbyshire by 122 runs with 7 wickets left.

Glamorgan 283 (Chris Cooke 69, Andrew Salter 72*;Tony Palladino 5-69) & 403-7 dec (Usman Khawaja 126,Kiran Carlson 152)

Derbyshire 362 (Ben Slater 52, Alex Hughes 102,Matthew Critchley 54*; Andrew Salter 4-105) & 147-8

Result - Draw

Derbyshire held out for a draw after Glamorgan declared on 403-7.
