Royal Challengers Bangalore collapse to lowest IPL total
Kolkata Knight Riders 131 (Narine 34) beat
Royal Challengers Bangalore 49 (de Grandhomme 3-4) by 82 runs
27th match, Indian Premier League, Eden Gardens
In what was a shocking display with the bat, Royal Challengers Bangalore were bowled out for just 49 runs in a chase of 132 runs as Kolkata Knight Riders completed a massive 82-run victory in the 27th match of Indian Premier League at Eden Gardens.
None of the Bangalore’s batsman managed to cross the double-figure mark with Kedar Jadhav (9) being the top-scorer.
Nathan Coulter-Nile (3-21) set the tone with his early burst of wickets while Chris Woakes (3-6) and Colin de Grandhomme (3-4) ensured the star-studded batting line-up of Bangalore recorded the lowest ever total in the history of Indian Premier League and 10th lowest overall in T20 games.
Earlier, after Bangalore decided to field first, they were treated harshly by a 17-ball blistering knock from Sunil Narine (34) which included six boundaries and a six.
At one stage, Kolkata looked threatening to cross the 160-run mark but Bangalore spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal (3-16) and Pawan Negi (2-15) applied brakes with regular wickets to dent the momentum of the home side, who could manage only 131 before they were bowled out in 19.3 overs.
Coulter-Nile was awarded the man of the match for his early spell as Kolkata have consolidated their position at second while Bangalore slipped to the last position displacing Gujarat Lions.
