Rufforth Cricket Club is based on the outskirts of York and plays its competitive cricket in The Wetherby League. The club has two Saturday teams and also play in the Whixley Evening League on a Thursday night.

The First Team Captained by Ben Lodge last year were promoted into Division Two.

The responsibility has been passed over to Ed White who will lead the team this year. His vice and opening swing bowler Dan Gunnell is looking forward to the higher standard of cricket and the new challenges it will bring.

With a higher level of cricket been attained last year, the club is in the process of sourcing a scorer for the first team. If you know anyone that would be interested in role or helping out please email [email protected]

The Second Team, headed up by Connor Sanderson, the youngest of the “Sanderson Clan” is looking forward to life in the new reformed Division Five. With a few new signings over the close season Rufforths Second Team could be real Division Title contenders.

Thursday night cricket in the Whixley Evening league is a fun, fast paced and allows everyone in the club to demonstrate their creative stroke play. The ambitious Liam Spindlow will oversee the Thursday night team and is aiming to win as many games as possible, whilst providing opportunities for the developing youngsters within the club.

The last few years for Rufforth CC has seen club togetherness grow from strength to strength. With fantastic teamwork on and off the field of play, there seems to be a growing sense that Rufforth CC is a fresh faced, dynamic club that is striding to achieve greatness in years to come. The Clubs Moto and hastag #MRL Mad Rufforth Love emphasises and shows how cricket is played on the Airfield.

Hard work over the winter months has resulted in a new look for the Club. With over £850 raised in donations, the club is looking to improve its facilities. Recent grant applications and schemes will help fund covers and pitch improvements. The new Rufforth CC committee is currently fund raising by selling raffle tickets with some fantastic prizes donated from local businesses.

First Team Captain Ed White has been responsible for sourcing a new kit and sponsor that the 'Gliders' will be donning this year. Rufforth CC is on the rise and is always looking for new members, so if you are looking for a new challenge and to join a club with a great togetherness, Rufforth CC could be your new team for 2015.
