Sabbir, Tamim power Bangladesh to massive win in tour game
Bangladesh XI 394-7 (Sabbir 100) beat
Ireland A 195 (Tector 60) by 199 runs
Warm-up game, Tri-Series, Belfast
Sabbir Rahman smashed a century while Tamim Iqbal scored 86 runs as Bangladesh posted 394 for seven in their innings and later dismissed Ireland A for just 195 runs to secure a massive 199-run victory in the warm-up game in Belfast.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. After an early departure of Soumya Sarkar (17), Tamim (86) and Sabbir (100) joined forces for a 103 run stand for the second wicket that came off just 90 deliveries to set the tone for the innings.
Even though, Tamim fell short of the three figure mark, Sabbir decided to retire out on reaching his milestone while useful contributions from Shakib Al Hasan (44), Mosaddek Hossain (31), Mushfiqur Rahim (41) and Mahmudullah (49) propelled Bangladesh to 394 for seven in their 50 overs.
Despite a solid start from James Shannon (31) and Jack Trector (60), Ireland A never looked comfortable in the chase and with the huge pressure of required run rate, they could manage only 195 runs before they were bowled out in 41.2 overs.
The focus now shifts to the first game of the tri-series between Ireland and Bangladesh in Dublin on 12th May.
