Saifuddin, Buttler set up eight wicket win for Comilla Victorians
Comilla Victorians 144-2 (Buttler 48) beat
Chittagong Vikings 143-7 (Ronchi 40) by eight wickets
Fifth match, Bangladesh Premier League, Sylhet
After Mohammad Saifuddin picked a three wicket haul to restrict Chittagong Vikings to 143 for seven, Jos Buttler led the chase with a determined 48 run knock to help Comilla Victorians register an eight wicket win in the fifth game of the Bangladesh Premier League in Sylhet.
Comilla Victorians won the toss and decided to bowl first. Luke Ronchi (40) with his 21-ball knock got Chittagong off to a flying start while bringing his 50-run stand with Soumya Sarkar (38) off just 28 deliveries. Mohammad Nabi (1-18) broke the 63 run stand when he had Ronchi dismissed in the final over of the powerplay.
Sarkar and Dilshan Munaweera (21) were hardly going at a run a ball as the innings lost momentum and from 101 for one they were reduced to 128 for six before Sikandar Raza (18 not out) with his unbeaten 13 ball knock pushed the total to 143 for seven in the 20 overs.
Saifuddin (3-24) were the pick of the Comilla Victorians bowlers with a three wicket haul while Dwayne Bravo (2-29) snared two wickets.
In the chase, Liton Das (23) with his 14-ball knock provided a promising start while Buttler (48) played a responsible inning.
Das was trapped LBW by Subashis Roy (2-24) in the fifth over but Buttler added another 57 runs with Imrul Kayes (33 not out). Buttler fell two runs short of a deserving half-century but Marlon Samuels (35 not out) with his 18 ball cameo ensured Comilla Victorians completed the chase in 17.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Saifuddin was named the man of the match for his three wicket haul that set the game for the Victorians.
