Sale 1st XI narrowly missed out on making it six wins out of six in a thrilling game against Timperley that went down to the last over with all four results still possible.

I S Recruitment sponsored Sale won the toss in the Cheshire County League derby at Dane Road and asked the visitors to bat first.

Dan Newton got Sale off to the perfect start with a wicket in the first over, Amlyn Layton soon made that two as the visitors reached 18-2.

Ed Galley led the revival with 63 at the Timperley middle order fought back, however the Sale spinners kept the scoring rate in check as James Dodds picked up 3-55.

Jordan Ruff then made what would prove to be a telling contribution as he hit 43 off 29 balls at number 9 to get Timperley to a competitive 250-8.

Sale stayed up with the rate throughout the chase, Newton (52) and Dodds (46) were the leading players. In fact all of the top seven made double figures, but none were able to put Sale in a winning position.

Ben Watkin made a brisk 16 off 13 balls at number 9, but when he was out in the 48th over it was left to the final pair of Layton and Max Bishop to get the 7 runs needed off the final over, but it wasn’t to be as Bishop was run out from the second ball.

Caedence Kuepper was leading bowler with 5-54, points 7 – 25.

Sale 2nd XI came away from their visit to Chester Boughton Hall with a draw after the home side racked up 263-4 in 47 overs.

Sale just about hung on for the draw in their 53 overs as they reached 217-9. Jared Moran was top scorer for Sale with 54, Tom Jenkinson next best with 38. Points 6 – 15.

Sale 3rd XI had a good win at Timperley in the Sunday premier division after they posted 246-4.

Tom Jenkinson set the tone with 59 at the top of the order in partnership with Jamie Coombes (37). Dattu Vadakutte then made a run-a-ball 45 and veteran Asad Khan smashed 64 off 41 balls.

Timperley were never in the hunt as they were bowled out for 144, Tom Smart with 4-45 and Sam Baker 3-18.

Sale 4th XI had a good win at Maccelsfield after the home side had posted 182-9, Brayden Rodd, Robin Smith and Tom Brassell taking 2 wickets each.

Shayden Imran (33) and Ben Cleary (33) were the top scorers before 21 from Jon Saunders got Sale home with 2 overs to spare.

Earlier in the week Sale Silverbacks had a good win at Urmston in the over 40s competition as the home side were restricted to 103-5, Ian Dixon 2-21.

Dixon got sale off to a flyer with 33 retired, fellow opener Andy Gould 31 retired as Sale got home with 2 overs to spare.
