Satterthwaite century powers New Zealand Women to 60-run win
New Zealand Women 309-4 (Satterthwaite 137no) beat
Pakistan Women 142-4 (Abidi 45) by 60 runs (D/L method)
Second One-Day International in Lincoln
Amy Satterthwaite scored an unbeaten 137 as New Zealand Women registered a 60-run victory by DLS method after restricting Pakistan Women to 142 for four in 34.2 overs before rain played spoilsport in the second One-Day International in Lincoln.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Suzie Bates (32) and Rachel Priest (27) provided a solid opening stand of 53 runs which was broken by Sana Mir (1-56). After Sadia Yousuf (1-43) castled Priest, Satterthwaite (137 not out) took control of the game.
She added a 150-run stand with Katey Martin (65) to take the game away from Pakistan. Satterthwaite reached her fifty off 64 deliveries while Martin brought her half-century off 65 deliveries.
Even though Martin was run out in the 41st century, Satterthwaite completed a fine century and powered New Zealand to 309 for four in the 50 overs.
Pakistan lost Ayesha Zafar (2) in the chase but Nahida Khan (33) and Nain Abidi (45) added 76 runs to provide some respite for the visitors. With the required-run-rate climbing high, the pressure eventually got into the Pakistan batsmen as they lost Khan, Abidi and Nida Dar (3).
When Pakistan were 142 for four in 34.2 overs, rain arrived and it did not allow any further play allowing a 60-run victory for New Zealand by DLS method. New Zealand now lead the five-match series 2-0.
