Scotland Womens Head Coach Mark Coles to leave Cricket Scotland
Cricket Scotland announced today that Mark Coles, the Women's Head Coach, has decided to leave the organisation with effect from 26 February 2022.
Mark, who joined Cricket Scotland from Japan Cricket in February 2021, made an early impact on the women’s national side guiding them to a T20 win versus Ireland in Belfast followed by winning the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup European Qualifier in Spain last August.
On announcing his intention to return home, Mark said “The past year has been challenging with COVID restricting the opportunity for me to spend time with my family. I will miss Scotland and the players but believe this is the right time to return home.
“The women’s national team is now in a great position to qualify for the T20 World Cup and I will be following their progress closely, knowing they can do this.”
Cricket Scotland Chair Tony Brian said “I would like to thank Mark for his expertise and hard work during his time with us which has undoubtedly helped move the squad forward as was seen in the successful campaign to reach the ICC T20 Global Qualifier later this year.
“We wish him and his family the very best as he returns to Australia to re-join them after being separated for nearly a year due to Covid restrictions.”
Cricket Scotland will now begin the recruitment process for his successor.
