Shakib Al Hasan confirms availability for Tour of South Africa 2022

Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed that he will be available for the ODI and Test series’ in South Africa. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had earlier rested him from all cricket until 30 April 2022 following a request from the player.

BCB’s Chairman Cricket Operations Mohammed Jalal Yunus said: “Shakib has declared his availability and has requested the Board to consider him for the entire tour (ODI and Test series’). He has also informed the Board that he wants to be with the team and on the cricket field and no longer feels the need for the break which would have kept him away from all cricketing activity during the rest period.

“He has reaffirmed his commitment to playing all three formats for Bangladesh. We have welcomed his change of heart and the Board is pleased that there has been total clarity in the discussion we have had. Shakib will be flying to South Africa on Sunday to join the rest of the squad.”
