Shakib Al Hasan rested from Tour of South Africa
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has exempted allrounder Shakib Al Hasan from the National Team’s upcoming Tour of South Africa.
Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series, which is a part of the ICC World Cup Super League and two Tests against the Proteas in South Africa.
BCB’s Chairman Cricket Operations Mohammed Jalal Yunus said: “Shakib has informed us that he is not in optimum mental and physical condition to play international cricket at the moment and has requested to be rested from the Tour of South Africa. As the matter concerns one of the most important members of the team, the Board has taken all aspects into consideration and has agreed to give him a break from the game.
“He will not be involved in any form of cricket, international or domestic, until 30 April 2022. We hope he will return reenergised and fully fit for the ensuing cricketing commitments.”
