SLC bans Danushka Gunathilaka for six limited overs matches
Sri Lanka Cricket has handed a suspension of six limited over games for opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka following a misconduct during the recently concluded series against India at home.
The complaint was lodged by team manager Asanka Gurusinha after Gunathilaka missed a training session.
"The board had asked the selectors not to consider Danushka for six white-ball games," Gurusinha said.
"Yes, it is for disciplinary reasons that they made that decision."
Sri Lanka suffered a major setback during the season against India as they were defeated 0-9 across all the three formats, even prompting investigations from the Sri Lankan board and the International Cricket Council.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges and will now miss the ODIs and T20Is against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates.
