SLC revises ban on Danushka Gunathilaka
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a reduction of opening batsman Danushka Gunathilka's ban to three matches following an appeal.
The 26-year-old was originally banned for six matches after team manager Asanka Gurusinha complained about Gunathilaka missing a training session during the home season against India which they lost 0-9 spread across all the formats. Apart from the ban he was also fined 20 percent of his annual fee.
However, following an appeal made by the Sinhalese Sports Club, the Sri Lankan board has decided to reduce his ban into half while the remaining three match ban will be effected on a repeat of the misconduct over a one year period, though, there is no change in the fine.
"The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday decided to revise the suspension imposed on Dhanushka Gunathilaka upon consideration of the appeal made on behalf of Gunathilaka by the Sinhalese Sports Club," SLC said.
The decision also means Gunathilaka will be available for selection for the upcoming Twenty20 International series against Pakistan which will see the third and final game played in Lahore.
