South African opening batsman Graeme Smith will miss the final two One-Day Internationals against India to prepare for the Test series and Vernon Philander is fit to play following a shoulder injury.

Smith, a veteran of 196 ODIs for his country, was not selected for the opening match in Johannesburg, in which Quinton de Kock blasted 135 at the top of the order to set up a 141-run win.

He will now miss the matches in Durban tomorrow (8th December) and at Centurion on Wednesday (11th December) to begin preparing for the two-Test series which begins in Johannesburg on 18th December.

However, he will remain available to play in case of injury to any of his team-mates.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Philander, who was not considered for the first match due to a shoulder injury, will be available for tomorrow's game having recovered from a strained shoulder blade.

Leg-spinner Imran Tahir's participation, however, is rated as 50-50.
