Former England pacer, Dominic Cork, feels Steven Smith will be the danger man for England in the upcoming Ashes series, which kicks off on Wednesday in Cardiff.

Even though, Stuart Broad and former England off-spinner, Graeme Swann, targeted Smith’s technique, Cork believes the 26-year-old is the most feared batsman in the Australian line-up, considering his resurgence, especially in the last one-year.

“The 199 he (Smith) got against West Indies in his last Test.

“Steve Smith, Michael Clarke and Shane Watson batting at six, if he plays.

“That to me is a team that is Wow! If they get themselves in, they have a chance.”

However, Cork was all praise for James Anderson, who recently became the first England bowler to get to 400 Test wickets.

“Anderson will play all the five matches.

“Even though he has got to 400, he is so hungry. He wants more.

“If he is on form, this could be one of cogs on how England can win the Ashes back.”

England are unbeaten in Cardiff having won and drawn a game apiece in the two encounters at the venue.
