Australia were undone early on by the South African bowlers, who decimated the top order, leaving them 8-3 at the 6 over mark – Dale Steyn removing Travis Head and D’Arcy Short and Lungi Ngidi picking up the wicket of danger man Aaron Finch for just 5. It was an uphill struggle for Australia from then on and although keeper Alex Carey 33 and Nathan Coulter-Nile 34 briefly got going, Australia were bowled out for 152; Andile Phehlukwayo 3-33 the pick of the South African bowlers in later stages with Imran Tahir picking up 2 wickets as well.
In reply, Quinton de Kock 47 and Reeza Hendricks 44 got South Africa off to a solid start and despite a late burst of 3-16 from Marcus Stoinis, South Africa cruised home by 6 wickets.
