The round up of the third day’s play in the SpecSavers County Championship Division 1 matches - Hampshire v Surrey, Lancashire v Essex and Somerset v Nottinghamshire.


Somerset v Nottinghamshire, The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton

Nottinghamshire batted all day to reach 468-8 at the close of play. They started the day 112-0 and Steven Mullaney 94, Jake Libby 69, Chris Nash 64, Samit Patel 55 and Tom Moores 103 all batted well to give Notts a lead of 210 runs over Somerset, with two wickets remaining.

Somerset 392 (Matthew Renshaw 106; Steve Davies 90*;Matthew Carter 5-113)

Nottinghamshire 134 (Craig Overton 4-53); Followed on  468-8  (Steven Mullaney 94, Jake Libby 69, Chris Nash 64, Samit Patel 55, Tom Moores 103; Roelof van der Merwe 4-114) at close of play.

A special mention to Tom Moores (103) , who scored his maiden First Class Hundred  for Nottinghamshire today.

It will be an interesting fourth day’s play providing the weather does not spoil it , as the game is interestingly poised.

Lancashire crash to 5 wicket defeat to County Champions Essex today.

Lancashire 301 (Jordan Clark 79, Shivnarine Chanderpaul 58; Sam Cook 3-65, Simon Harmer 3-35 )  and 105 (Jamie Porter 5-30, Simon Harmer 4-34)
