The roundup of the second day’s play in the SpecSavers County Championship Division 2 matches – Northamptonshire v Leicestershire, Gloucestershire v Kent, Warwickshire v Glamorgan and Durham v Derbyshire.

Northamptonshire v Leicestershire County Ground, Northampton

Leicestershire were bowled out for 217 today, in their SpecSavers County Championship Division 2 match against Northamptonshire, giving them a first innings lead of just 13 runs.

Northamptonshire 204 (Ricardo Vasconcelos 49; Zak Chappell 6-44) and 165-3 (Alex Wakely 51*) at close of play Northamptonshire lead Leicestershire by 152 runs with 7 wickets remaining.

Leicestershire 217 (Colin Ackermann 44, Neil Dexter 45, Zak Chappell 40; Rory Kleinveldt 4-51)

Zak Chappell decided to give it go with the bat today and scored 40 alongside Colin Ackermann 44 and Neil Dexter 45 to give Leicestershire a slim first innings lead over had the Northamptonshire.

In reply, Northamptonshire closed the day on 165-3,with Alex Wakely 51*.

 

Gloucestershire v Kent, Brightside County Ground, Bristol

Kent piled on the runs at The Brightside Ground, Bristol today, declaring on 582-9.

Kent 582-9 (Daniel Bell Drummond 49, Sean Dickson 117, Joe Denly 107, Darren Stevens 89, Adam Rouse 55, Harry Podmore 53 ) at close of play

Gloucestershire   44-4   at close of play and  Gloucestershire trail Kent by 538 runs with 6 wickets remaining

Joe Denly (117) continued his rich vein of form with the bat and with Darren Stevens (89) Adam Rouse (55) and Harry Podmore (53) batted Kent to an imposing first inngs total of 582.

In reply, Gloucestershire were in deep trouble at 44-4 at the close of play and  they trail Kent by 538 runs, with 6 wickets remaining, in their first innings.

 

Warwickshire v Glamorgan, Edgbaston, Birmingham

A stoic 106* from Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott (57) helped Warwickshire to a first innings lead of 30 runs against Glamorgan in their SpecSavers County Championship Division 2 match today at Edgbaston.

Glamorgan 220 (David Lloyd 39; Josh Poysden 5-29) and 55-0 at the close of play - Glamorgan lead Warwickshire by 25 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

Warwickshire 250 (Ian Bell 106*, Jonathan Trott 57; Timm van der Gugten 4-65)

The pick of the Glamorgan bowlers was Timm van der Gugten 4-65.

In reply, Glamorgan were 55-0 at the close of play - Glamorgan lead Warwickshire by 25 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

 

Durham v Derbyshire, Emirates Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street

Derbyshire were all out for 205 at the Emirates Riverside, Chester-le-Street, today, adding just 30 runs to their overnight score of 175-8, which gave them a first innings lead of 109 against Durham.

Durham  96 and 155-6  (Tom Latham 67)  at close of play

Derbyshire 205 (Matthew Critchley 38 ; Chris Rushworth 3-57)

Chris Rushworth (3-57) was the pick of the Durham bowlers.

In reply, Durham were 155-6 at the close - Durham lead Derbyshire by 46 runs with 4 wickets remaining.
