SRH vs MI IPL 2021 Preview: 8th Oct - Qualification out of Mumbai's hands, but a win would help
Mumbai Indians still have a slim but realistic chance of qualifying to the playoffs.
KKR need to lose for MI to qualify
The ideal scenario for Mumbai Indians would be for Kolkata Knight Riders to lose their last match against Rajasthan Royals and for them to win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
If Kolkata Knight Riders manage to win their last match, things will get a bit tricky for Mumbai. They will then have to pull off a massive, massive victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad which won't be completely out of the realm of possibility, but quite improbable.
Kishan, Neesham repay faith
Mumbai Indians pulled off a masterstroke in their last match, bringing in out-of-form batsman Ishan Kishan in place of Quinton de Kock. Although, it was a bit harsh on de Kock, the generous man that Rohit Sharma is, he is trying his best for wicketkeeper batsman Kishan - a real talent - to somehow fire.
The move to promote Kishan at the top of the order worked well. It only helped that Rohit Sharma went quite hard from the outset, not that it was a very big total that Mumbai were chasing. After playing out a maiden over, Kishan showed his true colours as well and scored a half century at a strike rate of close to 200.
The move of replacing Krunal Pandya with Jimmy Neesham was another tough one but paid rich dividends with Neesham finishing with bowling figures of 4-0-12-3. The only change that is expected in the Mumbai lineup is Rahul Chahar coming back in place of Jayant Yadav.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have long been pushed out of the qualification race. Still, they have done their best to spoil a few parties. The team did well to win a close match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last attempt.
Holder, Malik players to watch out for
The players to watch out for Hyderabad are Abhishek Sharma who was promoted to open the batting alongside Jason Roy in the last match and showed signs of being suited to the role, Jason Holder who is one of the best all rounders going around in international cricket at the moment across all formats, Bhuvneshwar Kumar who showed why he is highly rated as a death bowler - defending 13 in the last over against AB de Villiers, Kane Williamson who is a class apart with bat in hand and young Indian pace bowling sensation Umran Malik.
