That's a wrap, folks. 34-run win. We've just seen one of the classics.— Cricket World Cup (@cricketworldcup) 4 June 2019

Batting first, Sri Lanka got off to a storming start, scoring at over 10 runs an over with the opening partnership broken at 92-1 off 13.1 overs. Kusal Perera and HDRL Thirimanne then put on over 5o to take Sri Lanka to 144-2 off 21.2 overs - It was then, as they say, the ‘wheels came off’ the Sri Lanka innings with Mohammad Nabi (4-30) taking 3 wickets in an over and Sri Lanka slumped to 201 all out – after a break for rain.
In reply, Afghanistan fell 34 runs short, by the DLS Method, in the run chase. Najibullah Zadran 43 top scored and Lasith Malinga 3-38 and Nuwan Pradeep 4-31 were the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka.
A disappointing result for Afghanistan but a timely win and fight back from Sri Lanka.
