Fifth One-Day International, Pallekele
Chris Woakes took six wickets as England bowled Sri Lanka out for 239 in the fifth One-Day International in Pallekele before rain stopped play meaning England will begin their run chase tomorrow.
Kumar Sangakkara's 91 helped Sri Lanka recover from losing three early wickets but Woakes returned the second six-wicket haul of his career to peg the home side back.
He grabbed the prize wicket of Mahela Jayawardene for two early on, going to dismiss Jeevan Mendis (12), Thisara Perera (27), Sachithra Senanayake (0) and Ajantha Mendis (0) as well as having Sangakkara caught by Joe Root.
Tillakaratne Dilshan (35) and Angelo Mathews (40) offered Sangakkara support while Steven Finn (1-28), Chris Jordan (2-56), James Tredwell (1-33).
Sangakkara made 91 in 123 balls, hitting 10 fours.
Senanayake made an immediate return to international action having seen his action cleared by the ICC but after the rain came in during the interval, England will have to wait until tomorrow (11th December) to face him.
Sri Lanka lead the seven-match series 3-1.
