First Twenty20 International, Sharjah

Sri Lanka Women put their 3-0 One-Day International series defeat against Pakistan Women behind them to win the first Twenty20 International in Sharjah by eight runs.

Ama Kanchana hit an unbeaten 50 in 40 balls as Sri Lanka posted 151 for five and that was enough runs on the board for them to win the game.

Bismah Maroof also struck 50 not out, but she couldn't quite lift her side to victory as they closed short on 143 for eight.

Kanchana completed a fine all-round game with a brace of wickets as Inoka Ranaweera also took two wickets.

Sania Khan had earlier been the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with two for 27.

The second match in the three-game series is tomorrow (16th January).
