Sri Lanka tour of Oman 2021: Full squads, Fixtures & Preview: All you need to know

Sri Lanka and Oman meet for a two-match T20 series in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.

The matches are scheduled to be played on October 7 and October 9 at Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1). Both countries have never come up against each other in this format.

Oman recently played against Mumbai to fine-tune their skills for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka competed against India and South Africa at home and produced mixed results.

While Oman will get an opportunity to face an International team of pedigree, Sri Lanka will also get a chance to get a hang of the conditions in Oman, who are co-hosting the ICC event.

Having not qualified directly for the the T20 World Cup Super 12 stage, Sri Lanka will have to join Oman, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia in the qualifying stage.

Jatinder Singh and Zeeshan Maqsood are the leading batters for Oman. All-rounder Maqsood has also done well with the ball. Mehran Khan is another in-form Oman bowler.

Dinesh Chandimal and captain Dasun Shanaka have been the top performers for Sri Lanka in the recent past. Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa are also expected to do well. With the ball, Akila Dananjaya and Binura Fernando are the Lankan players to look out for.
