Rahmat Shah (52) would later join the fray and add his own half century, Afghanistan looking in a good spot.
Wanindu Hasaranga (2/42) fought back with the ball but Afghanistan headed in at 294/8.
In response, despite best efforts from Pathum Nissanka (85) and Wanindu Hasaranga (66) it wasn't enough as Afghanistan won by 60 runs.
