Sri Lanka vs India, 2nd ODI: Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar star in India's fighting win
India sealed the three-match ODI series with a three-wicket win in the second match to claim an unassailable 2-0 lead.
At the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka posted 275 for nine in their 50 overs. In their response, chased down the target with five balls to spare to finish on 277 for seven.
After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka started well with a 77 run opening stand between Avishka Fernando (50: 71b, 4x4, 1x6) and Minod Bhanuka (36). Later, Charith Asalanka (65: 68b, 6x4) held the innings together. Asalanka shared a 50 run stand for the seventh wicket with Chamika Karunaratne (44 n.o.).
For India, the wicket-takers were Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-54), Yuzvendra Chahal (3-50) and Deepak Chahar (2-53).
In their chase, India slipped down to 65 for three. It required a 50 run fourth wicket stand between Manish Pandey (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (53: 44b, 6x4) revived the chase. Then Krunal Pandya (35) allied with Deepak Chahar to keep the chase alive. At 193 for seven, India's chase appeared to be done. But Chahar (69 n.o,: 82b, 7x4, 1x6) had other ideas as he teamed up with his new-ball partner Bhuvneshwar to add 84 runs for an unbroken eighth wicket as India won the contest and sealed the series.
For Sri Lanka, the key wicket-taker was Wanindu Hasaranga (3-37).
Earlier, Sri Lanka made one change to their playing XI bringing in Kasun Rajitha in place of Isuru Udana, while India went in with an unchanged XI.
