Taking a leaf out of the recently concluded ODI World Cup, the match was tied right on the last delivery, after which Karaikudi Kalai skipper Srikkanth Anirudha ensured a win for the team with two successive mammoth strikes.

Match Summary

Karaikudi Kaalai 171-5

Ruby Trichy Warriors 171-5

Karaikudi Kaalai won in the super over

Karaikudi Kaalai skipper Srikkanth Anirudha finds himself in many roles. He keeps wickets for the team and then comes out to open the batting as well, apart from marshalling his troops. In this game also, he first set up the match with a half-century that saw his team through to 171-5, which was a good score.

He received major contributions from Rajhamany Srinivasan, Maan Bafna and R Rajkumar. Rajkumar actually slammed three sixes at a strike rate of 215 towards the end of the innings.

Sarvan Kumar was the only Warriors' bowler who found some success and picked up three wickets, though going for 32 runs from his four overs.

In reply, apart from the 81-run knock from Murali Vijay, there was not much contribution from other players, which is why the team could only manage exactly the same score as Karaikudi Kaalai after their 20 overs.

As a result, the match went down to a super over in which Murali Vijay's six helped the Warriors score 12 off their six deliveries. In reply, Srikkanth Anirudha came back in the super over and smashed two back to back giant sixes to help the team get the crucial two points.
