Surrey 'Delighted' To Have Kevin Pietersen Back

Surrey Chief Executive Richard Gould tells us that he and the club are "delighted" that Kevin Pietersen is making a return to the club to play county cricket this summer.

Pietersen has released himself from an Indian Premier League contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad to rejoin Surrey.

And Gould says that the return of the star batsman is great for the club.

"We're delighted to have him back," he said.

"He's going to link up with the other members of our squad and hopefully we've got a good, strong competitive squad which will score lots of runs and take lots of wickets."

Pietersen's re-signing comes after Surrey signed Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara and Gould hopes the combination will gel and bring people out to watch.

"It's exciting," he added. "People want to watch KP, people want to watch (Kumar) Sangakkara, they want to watch Jason Roy.

"We've got a very exciting team so I think it's good for cricket."

Gould was talking at an event to mark the launch of a partnership between Lycamobile and Chance To Shine Street at The Kia Oval.
