South African all-rounder David Wiese is all set to join Sussex for the NatWest Twenty20 Blast games which will be held next week in Hove.

Wiese will play in the two matches, taking the place of Bangladesh speedster Mustafizur Rahman, who is currently featuring for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 31-year-old, who has been a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in IPL, said that he is excited to join Sussex for the NatWest T20 Blast.

"I am really excited to be joining Sussex and taking part in the NatWest T20 Blast campaign," Wiese said.

"I have always wanted to play county cricket and from speaking to Chris Jordan here in the IPL and my discussions with Mark Davis I have heard a lot of very good things about the club."

Sussex’s coach Mark Davis is confident that the ability of Wiese to bowl at any stage and score runs lower down the order will be a great asset to the side.

"It’s great to have David joining us fresh from the IPL," Davis said.

"He is an accomplished cricketer in T20, having played a key role for South Africa in the format.

"He can bowl at any stage of the innings, and is a hard-hitting batsman, which makes him a valuable cricketer and we look forward to him being an asset to us whilst he is here at Hove."

Wiese will be available for the two NatWest T20 blast games against Somerset and Surrey on 1st and 3rd June respectively.
