Sussex to be without Mustafizur for Hampshire clash
Sussex will be without Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for their NatWest T20 Blast South Group clash with Hampshire tomorrow (Friday 15th July) due to a further delay to his arrival in England.
The club are, however, hopeful that he will be able to play the final three group matches of the campaign as they push for a quarter-final place.
Mustafizur was due to join Sussex and play in limited overs matches before an injury during the IPL forced an initial delay, following which he was due to head to England earlier this week and join up with Sussex, pending visa availability.
To cover for his absence, Sussex employed South African all-rounder David Wiese and Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara but both have now left the club.
In fifth place in the group, they will at least be able to call upon the services of New Zealand international Ross Taylor and captain Luke Wright, the two leading run-scorers for Sussex this season, as well as Chris Jordan, who is back from England duty.
Ex-Hampshire spinner Danny Briggs could face his former club for the first time after the fixture between these two sides in Southampton was washed out last month and seamer Jofra Archer, who made his first-class debut in the tour game against Pakistan, is included in a 14-man squad.
Sussex squad: Luke Wright (captain), Jofra Archer, Will Beer, Danny Briggs, Craig Cachopa, Harry Finch, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Matt Machan, Tymal Mills, Chris Nash, Phil Salt, Ajmal Shahzad, Ross Taylor
