Swann Predicts England To Win Test Series Against New Zealand

Former England spinner Graeme Swann has predicted that the upcoming Test series against New Zealand will end with the hosts coming out as victors.

When asked in a recent interview about England’s prospects this summer, the former England and Nottinghamshire spinner said, “My predictions for the New Zealand Test series? England will win 2-0.”

Whilst Swann happily backed his former team mates and was confident that they will emerge from the series victorious, he admitted that the matches were going to be in no way easy for them.

“It will be a very tough series,” Swann added, “New Zealand are probably the most improved team in world cricket. But it’s in England, it’s a home series and it’s the early summer series and England always do well.”

As Swann suggests the upcoming contest between the two countries will be anything but easy, with a confident New Zealand coming off the back of a successful World Cup campaign which saw them lose just one match. Swann, however, was quick to dismiss the idea that England’s One-day form would have an effect on their performance in the Test arena.

“One-day cricket and Test Cricket are such different animals these days; they should just bury it, forget about it and move along.”

The New Zealand series comes in the midst of a busy Test schedule for England which began in the West Indies last month and finishes in South Africa in January of next year.

With their next challenge after facing New Zealand being in the form of the Australians and the Ashes, England will be hoping to emanate the success they enjoyed last time the two teams came head-to-head in the Test arena. The series, which was also in England, ended in a 2-0 win to the hosts; which they will be eager to replicate in order to build some momentum going into the Ashes series.
