Sydney Thunder name squad for WBBL matches 9 & 10
Sydney Thunder coach Trevor Griffin has named a 13-player travelling squad to Hobart for the team's matches against Brisbane Heat (Friday) and Melbourne Renegades (Sunday).
England captain and wicketkeeper Amy Jones will remain in Sydney after aggravating a back injury during Thunder's Sydney Smash defeat to the Sixers.
However, Australian international Hannah Darlington will accompany the squad to Tasmania after her successful return to action at North Sydney.
Griffith said he and the squad were determined to reward its army of fans for their loyal support during a challenging season.
"It was very special to see so many people travel to North Sydney Oval to turn it into a sea of Thunder green for the Smash," he said.
"That meant a lot, and we're keen to give them plenty to cheer about during our two matches in Tasmania."
Speaking ahead of the Hobart trip, Thunder's Hannah Darlington said:
“[Of her return] “I probably forgot how long it’s been since I actually played some competitive cricket, so I was really excited to get out there, especially in the lime green.
“I’m not a very good cricket watcher at all. I bite my nails already, so sitting on the sideline trying to cope watching the girls, especially when they’re away from Sydney and I’m on the couch [was tough].
“To go out there and get a big wicket [was nice] but I would have liked to have gone for a few less runs, but on a ground like this, it’s pretty hard. I’m just glad to be out there.
“I’ll see how I pull up. We’ve got a travel day, so I’ll get into the pool and sort it out.”
Sydney Thunder squad vs Brisbane Heat & Melbourne Renegades:
