Tahir and Tanvir set up convincing win for Multan Sultans
Multan Sultans 108-1 (Sangakkara 51no) beat
Quetta Gladiators 102 (Tanvir 3-14) by nine wickets
13th game, Pakistan Super League, Sharjah
Sohail Tanvir and Imran Tahir shared six wickets between them equally as Multan Sultans bowled out Quetta Gladiators for 102 and later chased down the target comfortably with nine wickets in hand in the 13th game of the Pakistan Super League in Sharjah.
Chasing just five an over, Kumar Sangakkara (51 not out) and Ahmed Shezhad (27) provided a solid start of 66 runs off 64 deliveries before the latter was snared by Hasan Khan (1-25).
Sangakkara went on to complete his third half-century in four innings in the tournament and had Sohaib Maqsood (26 not out) looked solid at the other end as they reached the target in the 17th over with nine wickets in hand. They now have seven points from five games and have consolidated their second position.
Earlier, Multan won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shane Watson (19) once again provided the early impetus but Tanvir (3-14) and Junaid Khan (2-9) struck a couple of times each to remove Umar Amin (8), Watson, Rameez Raja (1) and Sarfraz Ahmed (30).
The middle order failed to show any fight as Quetta kept losing wickets at regular wickets and Tahir (3-19) picked the final three wickets to claim a hat-trick and bowl them out for 102.
