Our senior side plays in the Premier Division of the Eden Valley League, a thriving league of 4 divisions covering all of the east of Cumbria, even including a south Dumfriesshire team. Our club was promoted in the 2013 season and upon our return to the top division were crowned champions last September. Most of our players are from or have strong family ties to the village.
We hope to reinstate our second team for the coming season and also have a popular junior section offering coaching for children aged between 5 and 16. We currently have one Level 2 Coach and 4 Coach Support Workers registered at the club. All coaches and volunteers have been through the appropriate screening checks for working with children and coaching sessions are fun, engaging and safe.
We are a well-run and organised club with tremendous support within the local community. We regularly run fundraising events and are supported by a range of local individuals and businesses, generously contributing to the running of the club. There is a wonderful commitment from all club members, wives and girlfriends for coaching, practice nights, ground maintenance and match-day teas (some of the best in the League!).
Matches are keenly fought but played in a good spirit and win, lose or draw, the "if onlys and but fors" are looked forward to long debated in our local inn, The Kings Arms, after each game.
