Ireland fast bowler Tim Murtagh has been ruled out of the Cricket World 2015 with a foot injury and Max Sorensen has been named as his replacement by Cricket Ireland.
Middlesex man Murtagh has a stress fracture of his right foot and has been sidelined. He missed the One-Day International tri-series that Ireland finish playing in tomorrow (19th January) but will not recover in time for the World Cup.
Ireland open their World Cup campaign against the West Indies on 16th February.
Sorensen, 29, has played eight ODIs and last played for Ireland against Scotland in Dublin in September.
The change to Ireland's squad has been approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Event Technical Committee.
Sorensen, along with fellow fast bowlers Graeme McCarter, Eddie Richardson, Tyrone Kane and Barry McCarthy, was in the United Arab Emirates with the squad.
Ireland will adopt a similar policy during the World Cup with players on standby in Australia and New Zealand ready to step in should injuries hit.
Ireland World Cup squad: William Porterfield (captain), Andrew Balbirnie, Peter Chase, Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Ed Joyce, Andrew McBrine, John Mooney, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien, Max Sorensen, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson, Gary Wilson, Craig Young
