TNPL 2019 - Dindigul Dragons' openers make a mockery of Karaikudi Kaalai's 159-run target
The target of 159 was an almost par score. You might think that 5-10 additional runs would have been handy as the ball was coming on to the bat nicely, but even if the Kaalai batsmen had scored 20 extra runs, it would have hardly made any difference.
Karaikudi Kaalai 158-7
Dindigul Dragons 161-0
Dindigul Dragons won by 10 wickets
Karaikudi Kaalai started well with a 43 run-partnership when L Suryaprakash was finally dismissed. Skipper Srikkanth Anirudha kept going about his business in sublime fashion.
Anirudha was finally dismissed on 98, just two short of his century on the last ball of the innings. Dinesh Kartik, who had come down to play his first match of the TNPL season looked good through his 15-ball 17-run stay at the crease but a back spinner from Ravichandran Ashwin disturbed his woodwork.
M Mohammed and Ramalingam Rohit were the most successful bowlers for Dindigul Dragons.

However, even if the Kaalai batsmen had scored 20 extra runs, it would have hardly made any difference as Dindigul's opening combination of Hari Nishanth and N Jagadeesan chased down all the 159 runs by themselves, with an unbeaten partnership to take the team to a comfortable 10-wicket win.
