Chris Gayle is set to return to international cricket after a 14-month absence after he was named in the West Indies' One-Day International squad ahead of the England series. Gayle last featured for the West Indies in the 2011 World Cup, since when he was involved in disputes with the board over contractual issues and statements made in public.

Chris Gayle has reaffirmed his desire to play for the West Indies, claiming he was 'forced' to make himself ineligible for the series with Pakistan in order to play in the Indian Premier League. The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) had earlier issued a statement expressing their disappointment that Gayle had travelled to India and ruled himself out of the forthcoming international matches.
