Warwickshire and England cricket all-rounder Chris Woakes is in the midst of what could be his busiest cricket season, but he might have spent it on the sidelines had things turned out differently. Just over 12 months ago Woakes, 24, suffered a serious ankle injury during Warwickshire's pre-season tour of Barbados but he was able to recovery ahead of schedule and take his place in England's ICC Champions Trophy squad.

Joe Root has been added to the One-Day International squad, meaning James Taylor will captain the England Lions in Australia while both Craig Kieswetter and Jade Dernbach have been dropped from the One-Day International squad.

Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the remainder of England's tour of India with a thigh injury and has been replaced by Durham fast bowler Graham Onions. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Woakes suffered a left thigh strain during training between the first and second One-Day Internationals and will be returning home.

England set a new record of eight consecutive Twenty20 International victories but they were made to work exceptionally hard by Australia in the first of two matches in Adelaide. Australia set England 158 to win thanks to Shane Watson's belligerent half-century and he then took four for 12 before England snuck home from the final ball - debutant Chris Woakes hitting him through the onside for the winning run.
