Imran Tahir Added To Preliminary World Cup Squad

Leg-spinner Imran Tahir has been added to South Africa's preliminary World Cup squad, Cricket South Africa (CSA) have confirmed. Tahir qualified to play for South Africa earlier this month and was named in the One-Day International squad which begins a five-match series against India on 12th January in Durban and he has now been added to the squad of players from which CSA will pick its 15-man World Cup squad.

Lumb Recalled As Kieswetter Misses Out

England selectors have recalled Hampshire batsman Michael Lumb to replace wicket-keeper batsman Craig Kieswetter, who has been sidelined due to an abscess ahead of the upcoming Twenty20 series against Australia South African-born Lumb is currently playing Twenty20 cricket with the Queensland Bulls in Brisbane.

Bowling Coach Saker Extends Contract With England

England's fast bowling coach David Saker has extended his contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and will continue to work for them for another three years. Saker first joined the England management team ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 success in 2010 and the former Victoria man will now continue until at least 2013.

South Africa Call Up Du Plessis And Tahir For ODIs

South Africa have called up uncapped all-rounder Francois du Plessis and leg-spinner Imran Tahir for the One-Day International series against India. Du Plessis comes into the side which will not include experienced batsman Jacques Kallis for at least the first two matches of the five-match series due to a rib injury.

Imran Tahir Qualifies To Play For South Africa

Pakistan-born leg-spinner Imran Tahir could be in line to make his debut for South Africa in the decisive Cape Town Test against India - which begins on 2nd January - after qualifying to play for the Proteas. "Imran Tahir, the former Pakistan A team leg-spinner, is now fully eligible to play cricket for South Africa following the decision by the South African government to grant him permanent residency," Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief executive Gerald Majola said.

Pakistan have added opening batsman Khurram Manzoor to their Test squad to tour New Zealand, which now comprises 15 players ahead of the two-Test series. Right-handed Manzoor has been rewarded for a prolific run of form playing for Pakistan A against West Indies A and Sri Lanka A after playing the last of his seven Tests against Australia in January.
